No one wakes up and decides to have a bad day. People don’t sit up in the middle of the night and plan a nightmare. You don’t see people getting in line for a disease or illness. I am fully aware that sometimes things just happen — out of our control or will — they just happen.
With all of that said, we do have a say as to how we handle the things that are thrown our way. We can sulk, dwell and complain to our hearts content, but with those actions in place, we can expect nothing less that a continuation of our terrible situation.
Whether you believe it or not, we have the ability to choose how our day turns out. We have the ability to dictate how words and people are perceived. We are given complete control over our emotions. We have the ability to DECIDE how we view ourselves.
All of these things take incredible work, but don’t go on through life thinking that you don’t have a choice, because you do. You aren’t helpless in your struggles. You aren’t outweighed and overtaken from the start. You aren’t alone.
“Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”
–Philippians 4:13 (The Message Bible)
